Who is this class for?
If you want to build muscle, become stronger and gain confidence with free-weight strength exercises, this class is for you!
Strength is the focus of this class. We teach the fundamental lifts and gradually increase the intensity to match your fitness level.
The aim is to become confident with fundamental strength exercises such as squats, deadlifts, carries, overhead presses and single-leg exercises.
Why focus on strength training?
- It may help improve the muscle-to-fat ratio.
- It supports the maintenance and improvement of bone density.
- With appropriate loading, it may help reduce injury risk.
- It may contribute to better posture.
- It develops muscular endurance.
- In an observational study of 12,591 participants, resistance training 1–3 times per week or for a total of 1–59 minutes per week was associated with a 40–70% lower risk of cardiovascular events compared with no resistance training.
The study found an association; it did not establish a cause-and-effect relationship.
